Foot Treatment

Ok, I know FEET ARE GROSS but frequent running means that you need to pay more attention to your feet and give them some TLC. I’m not suggesting anything strange, just a weekly foot spa!

I’ve clocked up a fair few miles on my feet now, which can often leave them feeling slightly sore. To prevent any future pains I spoke to my local beautician about the best treatments to soothe my feet and make intensive training easier. She suggested an easy to make treatment that I can do at home on a weekly basis – this is also a great treatment if you’ve had a long day, or night, in killer heels.

1. Fill a large bowl with enough water to cover your feet.  The water should be warm but not steaming as hot water can dehydrate your skin.

2. Add a few drops of your favourite body moisturiser and stir this into the water with your fingers. Then leave your feet to soak and absorb the moisturiser for approx. 10 minutes.

3. Take your feet out of the water and apply a body exfoliator to them. This will remove any dead layers. You can also push back nail cuticles at this point to incorporate a mini pedicure.

4. Finally, place your feet back in the water to rinse them off. Then pat them dry and reapply a lightweight moisturiser after your soak to keep skin soft.

It’s a little foot luxury that only takes twenty minutes (and you can do it in front of the telly).

If you are a runner remember that it is crucial to also wear proper running trainers and sports socks, so you give your feet the best chance before you hit the track. No-one wants to deal with blisters!

Do your feet suffer when you run? Let me know if you have a great at-home foot spa recipe.
