It sounds disgusting but asparagus really works for one of my friends. It is known for its anti-inflammatory properties and detoxing powers so this could be the perfect option. It best enjoyed with a BBQ dip after a night out – not quite the greasy fry up, but if it works it means your also getting started on your five-a-day.
Another option, if asparagus is too much for you after a heavy night, is a banana. They are packed with potassium which can provide you with the energy that you need to keep going.
Personally, I enjoy tomatoes on brown toast the morning after a night out. It feels like a heavy breakfast but without all of the calories. And tomatoes are known to boost your mood. Research shows that you are 52% less likely to suffer from depression if you eat a lot of tomatoes. So it’s a great way for me to start my day if I’m feeling sorry for myself after one too many drinks.
It goes without saying that drinking plenty of water to rehydrate is essential after drinking alcohol so no matter what your hangover cure this should definitely be on your list!
